In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you'll need rice for some quests. But not just some rice – Hylian Rice! Because this rice is very special and the base of many exquisite Hylian dishes, it often happens that the players won't be able to get their hands on these precious goods.

So, where do you get it? And what's all the fuss about? We've got everything to know about Hylian Rice and where to find it!

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: Hylian Rice Uses

Of course, for cooking. There are many recipes with Hylian Rice that are easy to make and will serve you well on your journey.

  • Curry: Combining Hylian Rice, Goron Spice and a component from a different category will result in a mouth-watering Curry with effects depending on the third ingredient.
  • Porridge: It's as simple as in real life; add Milk to the Hylian Rice and another component of your liking to get a filling meal!
  • Rice Balls: Just add anything to rice, and it will most likely turn into a rice ball – again, the effects may vary depending on the other ingredient.

Not only does Hylian Rice come in handy to add more variety to your meals, but also for some quests it's necessary to collect rice. In Kakariko Village you'll stumble across a quest named "Gloom-Borne Illness", where you'll have to cook a Porridge to heal a sick grandmother. And also in "Gourmets Gone Missing" you'll need Hylian Rice for Princess Zelda's Meat and Rice Bowl recipe.

You'll need to cook a Curry too, for the second part of the "Teach Me A Lesson" quest, because the kids of Hateno School are hungry for knowledge! But definitely the most Hylian Rice is needed for the "Lurelin Village Restoration Project" where you'll have to deliver 20 Hylian Rice to rebuild the village.

How To Get Hylian Rice in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

How to farm Hylian Rice

If you're cheap (like me) and diligent, you can farm Hylian Rice without spending a single rupee. For that, just cut down as much high grass as possible, sometimes Hylian Rice will drop. The chances for that are higher around Hateno Village, where once every swing you'll get a nice pack of Hylian Rice.

Where to buy Hylian Rice

If you're rich, you could of course buy Hylian Rice, but with a price range from 12 to 16 rupees per piece it's pretty expensive and not every merchant has it in their offer right from the start.
