In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you will often encounter peculiar phenomena. Whether it's a cherry blossom tree, ancient ruin, or colossal skeleton, there is typically a concealed quest or a Korok awaiting discovery. Remarkably, the game goes to great lengths to redirect your attention from the main quest and bait you to explore its exquisitely designed open world.

The Colossal Fossil quest series is no different, but with Gerudo's Colossal Fossil, this mini quest series comes to an end.

Maybe you've stumbled across this leviathan on your way through the Gerudo desert, seeking shelter in its cave. It seems more likely that you've already completed Loones former quests, concerning the mammoth fossils in Hebra and Eldin. If not, it's probably best, if you do them before, since otherwise you would have to come back to the cave in the middle of nowhere to collect your reward.

It is not only in the desert, in the middle of nowhere, with unbearable cold at night and unbearable heat during the day, no. If you haven't invested the Regional Phenomena in Gerudo there's also a sand flood, making your map unusable. But if you're a fossil enthusiast, like Loone and don't want to deal with this phenomenon right away, there's a simple trick, how to find the cave!

How To Get To Gerudo's Colossal Fossil

If you're at Gerudo Town, covered in sand, just head up to the Soryotanog Shrine and glide right towards the column you see. If you smash the rocks in its center at the bottom, a light beam will lead the direction pretty much to where you'll have to go. So you can just follow the light through the sand flood to get to the Gerudo Great Skeleton Cave, which entrance you can't miss.

Inside the cave, you'll meet Loone, who's wondering if the skull next to the leviathan is its baby. So once again, it's your job to gather the missing pieces and put them back together.

As soon as you've got the torso down, use Ultrahand to get it over to the skull and attach it. Though, I found it easier to attach the skull to the torso. This time, there's no klicking-in like with the fossils before, so just assemble it.

For the torso of the smaller fossil, you have to climb the big one, or if you like it easy, just use Ascend beneath its skull. Up there you can spot a few ribs peaking through the cracked rocks. Even if it will remain a secret, how it got up there, it's pretty simple to get it down. Just attach a bomb flower to an arrow and blow things up until the rib cage falls down.

The other missing part is the tail, which you'll find a little bit further behind in the cave, covered with sand. So now you can use Tulin's power to uncover it or the nearby Zonai fan, or simply pull it out with Ultrahand. Again, bring it back and attach it.

Once you've done this, go back to Loone and talk to her. She'll be very delighted to see the cute little baby completed again next to its colossal (assumed) mother. And it surely makes an adorable picture, to see this leviathan with its child the same size of the adult's fin. This time, Loone doesn't want to go on, she wants to stay with these cuties for a while, but will of course show her gratitude by handing you 50 rupees.

If you should encounter a Gleeok, be sure to be prepared!
