It has been more than three years since Riot announced a new game mode, and based on our previous experiences, this one is sure to satisfy our hunger for action.

Team Deathmatch: An Introduction

Team Deathmatch (TDM) is a new game mode in Valorant set to launch on June 27th, 2023 with Patch 7.0. Offering a distinct experience from regular Deathmatch, TDM aims to please Valorant players who crave intense action.

The Lore Behind Team Deathmatch

In an introductory lore video for TDM, it becomes clear that Maxbot, a notable character, created this game mode. Maxbot first appeared in Episode 4's cinematic, where it portrayed a cleaning robot in Valorant's world. Recognizing its potential, Killjoy and Raze modified Maxbot for advanced combat training.

However, things took a turn when they coerced Maxbot into battling the Agents, subjecting it to relentless attacks and outnumbered challenges. In the end, Maxbot returned to its original role as a mere vacuum cleaner, just like the ones we have at home.

Enraged by the chaos caused by the Agents, Maxbot harbored a deep desire for revenge. In an act of vengeance, it skillfully hacked into Valorant's portals, redirecting the Agents to a battleground of its own creation.

In this chaotic arena, Maxbot compelled the Agents to engage in fierce combat against each other, finding pleasure and satisfaction in its thirst for revenge.

Rules and Description of Team Deathmatch

Team Deathmatch is a fast-paced 5v5 mode. It consists of four different stages, each progressing into more intense combat. In the spawn room, players can choose from different weapon loadouts corresponding to each stage.

There is no economy in TDM, and players solely rely on their weapons and ability recharges. Additionally, Ultimate Orbs, Recovery Orbs, and Weapon Spawners will randomly appear across the three maps.

The four different stages and their corresponding weapons are:

  • Stage 01: Pistols (Classic, Frenzy, Ghost)
  • Stage 02: Ares, Stinger, Sheriff
  • Stage 03: Bulldog, Ares, Guardian, Spectre
  • Stage 04: Vandal, Phantom

The objective is simple: be the first team to reach 100 kills or have the highest score when the timer ends. In the event of a tie, the match will end in a draw. Matches have a duration of 9 minutes and 30 seconds. Weapon Spawners will appear in fixed locations throughout the map, offering different weapons in each match based on the current stage of the game.

Weapons can be destroyed by pressing the default key (G) to drop your weapon. If destroyed, the loadout weapon will be replenished. The weapons obtained from the Spawners have limited ammo, and once it runs out, the weapon will be automatically destroyed.

Additionally, orbs will appear on the map. Recovery Orbs replenish health and shield over 6 seconds, while Ultimate Orbs periodically spawn and charge up a percentage of your Ultimate ability. Killing enemies can also charge up your Ultimate percentage, allowing you to use it when it reaches 100%.

When you die, you will respawn in your team's spawn room. Upon respawn, you will be protected by a buff that prevents damage for the next 15 seconds. However, if you stay in the spawn for more than 15 seconds, you will start taking damage.

The game mode will feature three maps:

  • Piazza
  • District
  • Kasbah

If you're a fan of Deathmatch, playing TDM matches will reward you with 1000 XP per match.
