Twilight Lead Actor Should Have Been Fired For What He Said About The Movie

The Twilight franchise had to deal with lots and lots of hate thrown in its direction over the years. The one person who hates Twilight the most, though, is none other than its lead actor Robert Pattinson, and he didn't even make it a secret.

No matter how much you hate Twilight, there will always be one person who hates it even more: Robert Pattinson. Unlucky for him that he played the dreamy (creepy), loveable (toxic) and protective (obsessive) Edward Cullen, the movie's protagonist besides his relatable (boring) girlfriend Bella.

Pattinson didn't even try to hide his distaste for Twilight most of the time, and to be honest, it's kind of bonkers that he didn't get fired for all the stuff he said about the franchise on camera. It seems like he tried to get fired just to get away from the sparkling vampires and shirtless werewolves.

Nobody Hates Twilight More Than The Cast Of Twilight

When doing promo for the movie you're starring in, especially if you're in a lead role, it's basically common sense to make the movie look good. Robert didn't think so, and he was always brutally honest about his thoughts regarding Twilight, both the movies and the books.

While his co-stars Kristen Steward and Taylor Lautner always tried to, you know, do the PR thing where they hype up the movie, Robert Pattinson always seemed quite unimpressed. Let's dive into my personal favorite quotes of his regarding Twilight!

When I read it, it seemed like... it was like it was a book that wasn't supposed to be published.

I can second this. I've read the books and seen the movies, more times than I'd like to admit, and I still second this. The thing is, I didn't get paid to bring the franchise to life, so I can say that, but can he?

If Edward was not a fictional character and you've met him in reality, you know, he's one of those guys that would've been an axe murderer.

Again, really accurate take on Edward's character. He did watch Bella sleep and lured her into the woods more than once, that's pretty axe-murder-y, right?

My absolute favorite Robert Pattinson quote regarding his absolute distaste for Twilight is about the writer Stephanie Meyer, though. Short and simple:

This woman is mad.

He even hates the fandom. Fans came up with the nickname “R-Pattz” for him. Asked in an interview about that, he simply said, “I would like to break the hands and mouth of the person that came up with it.” Sounds like something Edward would say.

Robert Pattinson Was Nearly Fired From Set But For A Different Reason

You would think that his interviews may have gotten him in trouble, right? Well, no, but he did get in trouble for something else: his attitude on set.

  • If you want to re-read the books after all this passionate hate for the franchise, here is a complete collection for you!

In an interview with GQ, he shared that he had a very clear vision of Twilight that kind of differed from what the actual creators had in mind. Apparently, he heard “vampires” and immediately went edgy and “emo”, leading to quite a bit of tension.

That's until his manager and agent visited him on set, basically telling him to get his act together if he doesn't want to get fired. Vibe-checking himself worked out, even though after hearing what he thinks of Twilight, maybe that would've been his chance of getting out of there.

I wonder if he regrets not having an attitude a little bit longer.

Proof or didn't happen? Here's a little compilation of Robert Pattinson hating on Twilight.
