Henry Cavill's time as Geralt of Rivia has come to an end, he is the ending for The Witcher season 3 explained.
The Witcher just recently concluded season 3 and people are already missing Henry Cavill. For those of you who were wondering, it seems like season 3 won't deliver an appropriate send-off for Cavill's iconic performance, or an explanation for the recast, which has left a bitter aftertaste for fans.
If you are a fan of The Witcher but don't quite understand how the ending ties into future iterations of the Netflix adaptation, here is The Witcher season 3, ending explained.

The Witcher Season 3 Ending Explained: How It Ties Into The Story
Season 3 of The Witcher had Ciri, Geralt and Yennefer navigate their weird family dynamic, while also doing their fair share of monster slaying. They're stuck in between Nilfgaard and Redania, which is not a nice position to be in.
The first Volume ended with the start of the Thanedd coup and the reveal that it wasn't Stregobor who was working behind the scenes to make life as hard as possible for our main cast, but Vilgefortz. And in the very last scene, we see Dijkstra capturing the Witcher, holding a knife to his throat.
Throughout this season, Geralt's neutral stance is tested more than ever, because in order to protect Ciri he might have to ally with somebody.
His neutrality gets tested even more in Volume 2, though, as he ends up in a room with the captured mages, including Vilgefortz (you know, the guy behind most of his struggles this season and one of the biggest threats to Ciri).
Episode 6 shows an epic clash of all major players, as the allies of Nilfgaard (including Vilgefortz) fight for control with Dijkstra, Philippa, and the Redanian forces. Not to forget the Scoia'tael, who are also in on the action, siding with Vilgefortz and Nilfgaard.
Throughout all of this, we still have Geralt trying to keep his neutral stance, as he is trying to get Ciri to safety. Ciri actually ends up in the Korath desert, because of a portal, completely alone, but for a unicorn (it's a lot, I know!).
Meanwhile, Dijkstra assassinates King Vizimir to replace him with his brother Radovid, because they deem him easier to control. Season 3 concludes with all of our main characters ending up separated, as Ciri roams the deserts of Korath and Geralt and Yennefer looking for her.
If you expected a nice send-off for Henry Cavill, we will have to disappoint you. Apparently, season 3 was already done by the time Cavill announced his departure, so we will have to wait and see how they will conclude the switch with season 4...
And with that, Henry Cavill is no longer the Witcher.
Despite their promises, it will be hard to accept Liam Hemsworth as the new Witcher:
