The LCK playoffs are in full swing, with T1 managing to gain the upper hand in the telecom wars, with a surprise victory over the first place kt Rolster. The day did not end in smiles though, with vicious comments being made online against T1's veteran mid laner Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok.

In a post online, someone wrote a disturbingly detailed description of how they want to murder the star player. The police was quickly called in and an investigation has been kicked off to figure out who posted these types of comments.

LoL Star Faker Receives Death Threats

Whether it's just a troll or someone seriously planning a murder has not been revealed yet, but someone posted a thread on an online forum in which they stated that they will kill mid laner Faker. The post titled, "I will go to T1’s dormitory tomorrow to cut off Faker’s wrist" is quite disturbing even if it's just an online troll writing this for attention.

Throughout the last week there have been multiple stabbings that took place in South Korea, making these threats all the more real. One stabbing on August 3, 2023 injured 14 people, while another stabbing just a day later another stabbing took place at a school.

This has made the police, fans and T1 all the more cautious regarding the threats posted against Faker. In the post the writer explained that he would "cut off this fatherless bastard’s wrist and behead him with [a] kitchen knife".

Since the threats have gone online, police have set up watch at the official T1 headquarters as seen in a Twitter post on August 11, 2023. Not only that, but T1 have also acknowledged the threat and are taking it very seriously, as translated by gumayusing on Twitter.

We confirmed that there have been disgraceful comments posted in online communities about Faker yesterday. On a team level, we have reported it to the police and we are actively responding/moving for the safety of the players.

The LCK is also adding extra security measures for future events, meaning there will be more detailed security checks, as well as more security personnel inside and outside of LoL Park for the rest of the LCK Playoffs.

As of writing the article the poster has not been identified.
