Pokimane is currently facing backlash, for speaking her mind about the whole Kick signing big streamers, situation. Now, she addressed how this showcases a “sad truth” for female streamers.

Imane “Pokimane” Anys is one of the biggest female creators on Twitch and one of the most famous ones for sure. Known for friendly, funny, and pretty vanilla content , she is pretty much a family friendly streamer.

Pokimane Talks About The Struggles Of Female Streamers Amid Backlash Over Kick Opinion

When Kick-started their offensive against Twitch by buying out two of the platform's biggest creators, xQc and Amouranth, Pokimane made a statement regarding a possible switch to Kick.

  • If you want a free sub to spend on your favorite streamer, you get one for having Amazon Prime.
“Why would I compromise my morals and ethics, when I have money? Something about that is so cringe to me, personally.”

So yeah, Imane is not switching to Kick. Pokimane didn't hold back when gambling was a hot topic on Twitch, so her not really being a big fan of Kick is pretty on-brand. Others didn't really take too kindly to her way of wording this though, prompting her to receive some backlash among the streamers that ended up switching.

While this is simply a clash of moral standpoints, the streamer feels wrongly attacked for her opinion.

“You know what the sad truth is?” she starts off. “The way that people treat me deters any other woman in the space from genuinely talking about their honest opinions or behaving how they probably really want to, because they recognize the treatment that they can expect.”

She then explains how the backlash she receives translates to other female streamers, using the example of the backlash and hate she received for revealing what she looked like without make-up.

“I will never forget one time, I had a girl come up to me, and she was like, ‘Oh, I stream sometimes.’ She basically said, ‘I’m way too scared to stream without make-up, because I saw what people did to you.’ I was like, that’s so f*cking sad.”

While this is a good point, it seems a little far-fetched, as the backlash she received for her comments were mostly due to her harsh words.

She pretty much called all the people that switched to Kick cringe, saying they lack morals. Obviously, there are some misogynistic and sexist people as well, but especially the streamers seemed more upset about that.

Still, having a woman be scared to stream without make-up because of the backlash she could receive for the way she looks is pretty f*cked up! I mean, maybe we should all take a step back, touch some grass and stop criticizing people on Social Media for the most irrelevant things, and especially stop to reduce female streamers on their looks like that.

Streaming and content creation isn't as easy as people expect, that's why some people quit and others (like Pokimane) need regular breaks to recover:
