LoL Patch 13.12: Riot Is Trying To Bring Rumble Back To The Top Lane

Rumble, the mechanized menace, is a pretty rarely seen guest on Summoners Rift nowadays. Back in 2011, when he got released, he was one of the most dangerous champions to pick. What are Riot's plan for Rumble within the near future and which lane will suit him best?

Rumble has always been in a weird state within League of Legends. Even tho his skin “Rumble in the Jungle” makes it look like he's more likely to be found in the woods, Riot has seemingly other plans for our little Yordle.

The next patch 13.12 has a bunch of changes regarding Rumble's kit and abilities in store for us. Will this improve his current state within the game and on which lane will he find his forever home?

Let's check out the changes first!

LoL Patch 13.12: Rumble's Top Lane Comeback

Rumble had a hard time during the latest patches. In order for him to deal good damage, he has to build full AP, which is quite risky for a champion without dashes or escape tool.

  • Customize your League set up with these super cool True Metal Weapons! Show off your main in a tiny way, which will fit every desk perfectly.

That was mostly possible on the mid lane but to be fair, there have been way better picks then him.

Rumble Ability Adjustments

With the following changes, Riot is trying to guide Rumble back to the top lane, which could work out pretty well!

Base Stats

  • Base health reduced from 659 ⇒ 650
  • Health growth increased from 99 ⇒ 105
  • Maximum heat increased from 100 ⇒ 150 ⇒ Overheat now at 150
  • Overheat duration reduced from 5.25 sec ⇒ 4 sec

Passive – Junkyard Titan

  • Bonus attack speed changed from 20% – 80% ⇒ 50% – 130%, growing with level
  • Monster damage cap changed from 80 flat ⇒ 50 – 150

Q – Flamespitter

  • Base damage reduced from 180 – 340 ⇒ 135 – 190
  • Deals 6% – 10% max HP, capped at 60 – 300 against monsters
  • Minion damage reduced from 60% – 80% ⇒ 55% – 75%

W – Scrap Shield

  • Reduced from 60 – 180 + 45% AP ⇒ 10 – 50 + 30% AP
  • Shield now scales with 6% max HP

E – Electro Harpoon

  • Heat increased from 10 ⇒ 20

R – Equalizer

  • Cooldown increased from 100 – 70 ⇒ 130 – 80
  • AP ratio increased from 35% ⇒ 40%

Quite a bunch of changes for our little mechanical Yordle!

We can definitely see some much-needed adjustments, which will most likely give him a new role on the Rift.

Top Lane Rumble

Based on these distinct changes, it's easy to see what Riot has in mind for Rumble: Back to the top lane with him!

If the changes will be applied like that, he won't be as one shot and damage focused as he is right now, however, the max HP damage on his Q, will for sure be super useful against tanks! He can take much longer trades, with his increased heat storage as well.

Rumble isn’t your cup of tea, but you are still in need of a new top lane pick? Maybe try out K'Sante!

Also since his shield is now scaling with max HP, he will probably be more of an AP bruiser than a damage dealer, which isn't a bad thing at all! Rumble will most definitely build Riftmaker now again, since this item provides him with all the stats he likes the most.

There is a high chance, that these adjustments will make him really annoying to play against, which could result in players just straight up banning him.

Let's wait and see, how the upcoming patch will treat Rumble and if he will find peace on the top lane. Oh, and … R.I.P. to all Rumble mid lane one tricks!
