New Warzone Map Las Almas Is "VERY Verdansk-like" & Features Slide-Canceling, According To Insider

Warzone streamer "Metaphor" is claiming that he's seen the upcoming Warzone map "Las Almas". As he revealed in a series of tweets, the new map is apparently inspired by Verdansk, and it features slide-canceling.

If you were to poll the entire Warzone community, we're certain Verdansk would still be the most popular map. Much of this can simply be put down to nostalgia for the early days of Warzone, but it did have a good flow between POIs, and a solid diversity of environments.

Slide-canceling is a far more divisive issue. Some folks will absolutely want to see this mechanic return, while others would be furious. And there are also those who want more movement in Warzone, but don't believe slide-canceling is the answer.

Apparently the new Warzone map (coming with Modern Warfare 3 in early-December) will be inspired by Verdansk and will feature slide-canceling, so we'll know how the community really feels in a few months.

Metaphor Claims Slide-Canceling Is Back & Las Almas Is Inspired By Verdansk

The news about slide-canceling and Las Almas came from Warzone streamer Metaphor, who revealed the following in a series of tweets:

New Warzone map coming in MW3 looks amazing, slide cancelling is in the current build .

No giant hill middle of the map, tons of buildings and pois unlike caldera, lots of areas that look memorable.

This map has a ton of Verdansk inspiration and little to no inspiration from mazrah / caldera.

So, how could Metaphor – a streamer and not a dev – get hold of this info? And is it just bullsh*t? We actually think Metaphor might be telling the truth here.

Call of Duty regularly invite streamers and the media to play new content ahead of the public. We also know that Sledgehammer, the studio behind MW3, are trying to undo everything IW did last year in MW2 (which included the removal of slide-canceling). And to top it all off, we haven't seen Metaphor lie for clout before, and he leaked a few of Al Mazrah's features before that map was released (he was the guy who first revealed that vehicles will have limited fuel).

Looking at the probability of his statements, we think you can take Metaphor's claims as “likely to be true”, although how much the map will feel like Verdansk is going to be very subjective.

We will update you as soon as we hear more about the new map Las Almas, and the possible return of slide-canceling.

Modern Warfare 3 should be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on Friday, November 10. The new Warzone map will be released almost exactly a month later in early-December with the start of MW3 Season 1.

Will we see even more of this on Las Almas:
