Netflix has been popping off with the video game adaptations recently. Especially animated series have received a lot of positive feedback. Castlevania is one of Netflix's huge successes and we'll get (kind of a) season 5: Castlevania: Nocturne.

Castlevania: Nocturne │ Release Date

The release date has finally been confirmed! Castlevania: Nocturne will be released on Netflix on September 28, 2023.

There's one little thing to mention, though: Nocturne will feature a whole new cast of characters to root for, led by another fan favorite: are you ready for the story of Richter Belmont?

Castlevania: Nocturne │ Castlevania's "Season 5" Is A Spin-Off

Castlevania has been a huge success across the board for Netflix, delivering a gritty and dark story with great characters to follow on their journey. Unfortunately, after four seasons of gut-wrenching fun, we are not going to see them again… at least as the protagonists of the story.

The series will still pretty much be the Castlevania we know and love, but instead of the original trio, we will follow the tales of Richter Belmont, a descendant of Trevor and Sypha.

Not only does Richter have a kick-ass German name, he is also one of the most iconic descendants of the Belmont family, headlining his own game in the franchise.

In the games, Richter also has a rich supporting cast, which allows for great world building and an all around more interesting setting.

The Origins Of Netflix's Castlevania

Castlevania is an iconic video game franchise that primarily revolves around the Belmont family, a lineage of vampire hunters, and their eternal battle against Count Dracula.

Throughout the series, players explore gothic castles, battle a variety of supernatural creatures, and face off against Dracula in different eras, as different members of the Belmont family.

While the initial entries focus on linear stage progression, later games adopt a "Metroidvania" style, with expansive castle maps that open up as players acquire new abilities and items. RPG elements are also integrated, such as leveling up, spellcasting and equipping different gear.

The combination of combat, exploration, and character progression forms the core gameplay experience of the series.

While the Belmonts are at the core of the franchise, some entries focus on other protagonists, such as Alucard, Dracula's son, or Soma Cruz, who has a mysterious connection to Dracula.

The series is renowned for its atmospheric settings, intricate gameplay, and elaborate storylines intertwining various characters and timelines, which has been perfectly replicated by the Netflix adaptation.

Castlevania has been around for a while now. I think even the most recent game would be… well, too old for Leonardo DiCaprio:
