LoL: Bootcamping In Korea Ends In Permanent Bans For Various Streamers

This is not how a League of Legends bootcamp is supposed to go! Countless North American and European streamers are left confused as their accounts on the Korean server are getting banned. How far does Riot Korea's ban wave go?

It is a tradition almost as old as the Korean League of Legends servers themselves: at some point in the season, various high-level streamers go to South Korea to prove their skill level in the Korean solo queue. This time, however, Riot Korea was not cool with some of the things certain streamers have pulled. Multiple accounts have been manually banned or deactivated by the Korean Riot overlords.

The level of confusion is high for everyone as nobody initially knew why the accounts were restricted. Earlier this Monday, streamer Ashkan 'TF Blade' Homayouni had his account banned for two weeks due to toxicity in the in-game chat. After discovering his suspension, he received the login credentials of a viewer to play on their account. This, however, is strictly forbidden in Korea – not only due to the Riot Terms of Service that prohibit account sharing globally.

Korean Bootcamp: Did TF Blade Get His Peers Banned With This Mistake?

After he was found playing on his 'new' account – which was not particularly difficult to discover since he was streaming the entire journey – Riot Korea went on to ban his account. There was no chance this account was not shared, as every account on the Korean server has to be verified via social security number – unless it is an official Riot account.

Since TF Blade is streaming from a hotel that multiple other streamers from Europe and North America have booked for the same time, they are sharing one IP address. This led to Riot Korea deactivating the other accounts to prevent TF Blade from further account sharing instances. The exception is streamer Rybson, who is playing on an account created by Riot Korea.

Riot Korea have not yet commented on the account suspensions.
