Baldur's Gate 3 officially launched on PC and the PlayStation 5 owners need to wait a little while longer, until the launch on September 6. But the game nevertheless skyrocketed themselves on the Steamcharts among the most played games, keeping the position of second-best launched title in 2023, surpassing expectations and causing some download hiccups along the way.
The game was reasonably popular in early access, but its full release has seen the ambitious RPG absolutely explode in popularity. Let's take a look at the current numbers.
Baldur's Gate 3: All-Time Peak Keep Rising
At the time of writing (September 4, 10am PT), Baldur's Gate 3's concurrent player count has reached a new milestone. While yesterday the player's peak were at 403,373 players, we have already reached 500,831, and it's not even the weekend yet.

Some people faced some download problems on Steam, due Larian Studios couldn't offer a pre-download option. As a result, the Steam servers got some problems along the way. Next week, we'll likely hit an all-time high, and I'm super excited to see those numbers!
Baldur's Gate 3: Finding Its Way Into Top Three Most Played Games
Right now, the game is doing really, really well, and being just a step behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 in terms of current players. But that's not all, Baldur's Gate 3 is actually the second-best Steam launch title of 2023, only beaten by Hogwarts Legacy, which had a peak of 879,308 players at the same time.
The phenomenal start is an indication that Baldur's Gate 3 is already a huge hit for Larian Studios, especially when we consider this only displays the Steam player base. We didn't even take the numbers from GOG into account.
