HJ Soul is an acclaimed RnB/Soul Singer Songwriter. He began his professional career with a soulful sound that started with cover songs, and he now writes his own songs about the story of his journey. The release of his first critically acclaimed EP 'Soul Desires' was very popular with its new contemporary RnB sound, especially with the track 'Fantasy' which was able to get a lot of momentum with listeners.

He then released an EP in April 2022 called 'Desired' and this EP epitomized the soulfulness that he admired from the 90s RnB era of music. He has been consistently grinding to release his new album that is out this year 2022 called 'All In The Mind' and the album has many songs that raise awareness for mental health which is an important topic of today. The newly released single called 'All In The Mind' will also be a song that's included on that album. He will be releasing another EP called 'My Love' this summer, and will also release more soulful singles later this year as well.

Of course, we decided to ask them a few questions about music and video games. Here's what they had to say...

What is your favorite video game soundtrack?

Most of the FIFA games when I'm in the training mode all those different songs get me in my feelings just like I'm in the game playing myself and in my own zoned out space.

Who's your favorite video game music composer?

There are too many composers out there to actually choose any particular individual.

What’s your favorite video game?

FIFA

What game inspired you to do music?

None really, music was engraved soul level from my very existence and there's not any level in any game you can get to, unless you know the purpose and that's the key to unlock the last level within the game that's life.

What video game are you currently playing?

FIFA and I can't wait for the next game. It's almost therapeutic when I hear "EA Sports it's in the game".

Would you ever like to write music for video games?

I would love to write music for video games, however, it's really got to sync in with the experience of the game and emotion of it especially when the game has got to a level where it's getting more difficult, and so then the music has got to match that level of intensity for the gamer to get the encouragement and spirit to be successful with completing the game to the very end of it.

What would it be like?

I would say the songs would need to be emotional, for example, for epic battles and that needs an element of soul in the music which is the style of music I sing and contemporary RnB.

How important is music for video games / video games for music?

Very, as without music in anything with life I would say it could get very boring, especially when there's an epic adventure in a game where you need the music to help you through it, or as simple as zoning out in training mode in FIFA with some samba music, ah, it goes so well together!
